Sales ladies doing what ever they can to get a sale, making offers, and throwing in samples and gifts. We dont think about it thoroughly and we pull out our wallets. Then when we get home we realize that we didnt want what we purchased in the first place. We all have been there right?
What you can do is hold back and use the 30 day rule.
30 day rule- Think about the purchase before hand and wait 30 days before you consider making the purchase. Most likely you would not want it after that long or you might have a new lemming. If you still want it after 30 days then you should go for it. I know that some of you may think that if you wait 30 days the sale would be over, or "I should make the purchase quick before they sell out". Be patient. There's always sales and good deals. Just take your pick and buy what you need.

Going on a No Buy and no buy tips
Hi and thanks for dropping by my blog. This blog will be dedicated to my love for makeup and for controlling my shopping habit. I have been buying too much makeup and clothes. It's time to slow it down and use what I have more efficiently. I am running out of places to put them and makeup do expire. Here are some no buy tips that I found online, youtube and some that I came up with on my own.
1) Organize your stash. If you have a large enough stash look around and find something that you hardly use. You might end up loving it and if it does not work out, put it up on swap.
2) Swapping is a great way to get new or used makeup. You are also getting rid of something that you no longer use. Makeupalley is a great place to do that but beware of swaplifters.
3) Check out make up looks that are trendy at the moment and recreate the looks with your current stash especially with the new MAC collections. Chances are you already have really similar colors.
4) Try going on a project 10 pan. This is where you pick out a certain amount of products (It does not have to be 10, it could be any amount you want) and you use them up and you cannot open anything new until you finish them. I never went on one. It looks too tough.
5) Remember that swatches may look different but once they are applied they will look really similar.
6) Before you purchase something new, think about all the other makeup you have.
7) Try out different combinations of primer base and eyeshadows, or lipliner, lipstick and gloss to achieve different looks.
8) Rotate your makeup. If you are going through a makeup rut as EmilyNoel would put it, try switching the usual products you use. Give all your makeup a fair chance of usage.
9) Stop purchasing back ups. If you are like me and you loving having back ups of your favorite make up, you should rethink this since makeup expires. Once you get a chance to open it in a few years it might of went bad already.
10) Avoid sales. This is extremely hard for most people but think about how much you can save if you avoid them.
Good luck for all of you who are on a low or no buy.
